The Muhtar, Loizos Pierou, of the village Dali, was shot and killed yesterday morning. According to an official announcement, Pierou was shot and killed in his office by a man who escaped in a black car. The police is investigating. The government radio stated that the victim was believed to be an EOKA traitor.
Loizos Pierou was sixty years old and shot by an unknown man at his office. The unknown man approached Pierou and shot him three times in the head with a revolver.
The body of Loizos Pierou was taken to the General Hospital for an autopsy which will take place today. The police is investigating the matter in Idalios and questioning anyone involved in the lethal shooting. Unconfirmed information state that some arrests have been made. The telephone network of Idalios has been placed under police surveillance.
